Shakeology = Love or at I hope it does!

A little background on Shakeology.  It's a meal replacement shake that I am just starting to use. Shakeology can help you lose weight, feel energized, improve your digestion and regularity and lower cholesterol. I've decided to blog about my experience.  I have every hope that it will be a positive one. I will tell you all that I am a Team Beachbody Coach, I do sell the stuff, but I'm new to it all.  This is not a sales pitch...LOL...Maybe, at the end of 30 days, it will sell itself!!!  HAHAHA!

Anyway...join me on my journey... I started yesterday, so here's 2 installments!

SHAKEOLOGY – DAY 1

Aug 2nd – My Shakeology arrived this afternoon!  I’m not going to lie, I was pretty excited. I chose the Home Direct Monthly Shipment option not only for my monthly PV, but for the convenience of knowing it will be there.  The Home Direct comes with free gifts; a book about how Shakeology came to be and 2 Shakeology workout DVDs. Next month I will receive a Shakeology Shaker cup.  They also sent a calendar of daily recipes for both the Chocolate and the Greenberry flavor.

Since dinner was basically a free for all tonight, I decided to try the shake.  The basic recipe calls for water and ice.  I thought I would use Flax Milk.  I can’t drink regular milk and I liked the vanilla taste of the Flax milk.  I also added about a cup of ice.

Well…I don’t recommend using flax milk or that much ice, especially for your first time.  The shake tasted like a field of grass and had the consistency of runny pudding.  YUCK!  The amount of ice just made that much more to drink, too.  But, I believe in the things it can do, so I vowed to drink it anyway and just ‘suck it up’, so to speak. It took me a long time to finish it.

I will say, despite the taste, I felt full.  I drank it at 6pm.  I had a snack of black bean chips and salsa around 10pm.  That was probably out of boredom.  I am having a hard time sleeping lately and I was still awake.  I like to eat when I’m awake.  If I slept more, I’d be thinner for sure!

Here’s was my thought...Shakeology tastes really bad, no matter what, and everyone is lying about it so people will buy it.  I hoped to God I was wrong!

I texted my Beachbody coach and told her about my first Shakeology experience….she laughed at my descriptive explanation, which I won’t share here, and gave me a suggestion.  She told me to use water and a tablespoon of peanut butter. (She had told me this a week ago before my order came and I didn’t listen).  I plan on trying that in the morning.

I’m glad I didn’t make my first shake with the flax milk tomorrow morning like I had originally planned.  My friends at work are waiting to hear if I liked it or not and I wanted to give them positive results.  Hopefully, now I can.

Until tomorrow…

SHAKEOLOGY - DAY 2

Aug 3rd – Let’s try this again, shall we?  This morning I made my Shakeology shake with 1 cup of cold water, 1 tablespoon of Jif Natural Peanut Butter and a ½ cup of ice.  If you use too much ice, you increase the overall amount of shake. That’s fine unless you don’t like the way you’ve made it...like yesterday. I mixed the Shakeology and the water in a glass first to make sure all the powder was dissolved.  Yesterday I saw a lot of product on the top of the blender.  This stuff isn’t cheap.  I don’t want to waste any of it.  This method seems to work well.  I’m a little leery of the peanut butter and chocolate combo first thing in the morning, but I trust my coach!

Can you say PHENOMINAL????   This is excellent!  Really, really excellent!!  This is one of those rare moments I will admit I WAS WRONG!  Shakeology does taste good!  I sip it as I’m getting ready for work.  I wake my husband up and make him taste it…LOL!  He nods in agreement.  I bring the rest into the car with me to finish on the ride in.  I spilled a little when my cup slipped out of my hand and I was pretty bummed that I would have that much less to drink!

Normally I would be walking out of the house with my huge coffee full of vanilla creamer.  It would be empty by the time I got to work and I would proceed to drink at least 2 more.  I would either eat a packet of instant oatmeal or a Zone bar and by 9:30am (I start at 6:30am) I would be wandering down to the cafĂ© to see what I could munch on.  Lunch is at 11 or 11:30.  If I am slow at work, boredom may cause me to eat more than 1 snack.

So far today, I only had 1 cup of coffee (not my giant travel mug) and I filled up my 24oz water cup instead of getting seconds on the coffee.  I was semi-slow today, but it wasn’t until my cube-mate asked “what’s for lunch?”, that I realized I was getting a bit hungry.  Then it hit me that I hadn’t craved one single thing all morning!  How’s that for awesomeness?

I won’t get into what I had for lunch or what I ate the rest of the day.  Let me just tell you now that I am making a conscious effort to eat healthy, concentrate on portion control, make smart snack choices and drink lots of water.  If I’m really good, then I won’t feel guilty having a little of something that I love.  I’ve started a Couch to 5k running program and I plan to do the Shakeology videos in between the runs.  I’ve got a Tough Mudder to do in April of next year.

Shakeology is an investment.  If you don’t make changes to the rest of your diet and lifestyle, it will be a bad investment.  I mainly became a Beachbody Coach for the discount.  If I never do anything beyond that, I at least want to be a good representative of what a Beachbody coach should be.  If I help to inspire anyone along the way, then I am a success.

Until tomorrow…

3 Things I'm excited about...

So, now that I've given up Zynga games on Facebook for Lent, I'm going to have way more time on my hands to do other stuff.  Here are 3 of them...

Because I am awesome, and I love Rants From Mommyland.  I joined their team at Sparkpeople and their 100 Day Challenge.  Because I'm I think I am more awesome than I really am, I joined the Warrior Team.  The Warrior Team takes on all 4 challenges (Strength, Cardio, Nutrion and Emotional Well-Being) for 100 days.  I am so dead!  I'm going to exercise, eat well and nurture my emotional well-being. HA! I'm going to need to channel Charlie Sheen.  I'm going to be WINNING!

I love the look of those glass tiles-made-into-jewelry/magnets-that everyone is doing these days. I want my own.  I have a very encouraging friend who also wants to let her inner crafty bitch out and we have some kick-ass ideas.  Now, I can't sell water to a desert drifter, but I think they'll make cherished keepsakes for my friends and family.

Now this isn't out yet, but I am patiently awaiting it's debut. K&Company's new SMASH books. I learned about them from this blog site SmashStories I am hoping to be able to empty my brain and stuff the contents of it in these creative journals.  Then, maybe, just maybe, with the clutter gone, I can get some shit done around the house.

I'm sure theres more than 3 things I'll be doing...Considering I have a new job, 3 kids, a husband and 2 dogs. The house needs updating, the laundry needs to be done cuz it hates me and the middle child wants to start plants from seeds for the garden.  God help me!

Oh and one more thing...there are two blogs that I love...the above mentioned Rants From Mommyland and the ever popular with most of my friends,  Moms Who Drink and Swear.  So, if I stay true to myself within this blog you may find it peppered with the occasional swear word and most likely dripping with sarcasm on occasion.  The girls from Mommyland have some great swear word alternatives.  MWDS, not so much.  Not for the faint at heart or the prude... you've been warned.  <3
